Awesome like-new “perfect cottage” in the heart of high-demand, scenic Village of Leland. Your whole Family and Guests will WALK TO EVERYTHING from this welcoming 2700+ SF 6 Bedroom, 3.5 Bath custom residence. You will stay directly across River Street from the Leland River which connects sand-bottomed Lake Leelanau with Lake Michigan, winding past historic Fishtown, a dam and two restaurants. The charming Riverside Inn is directly across the street. You will enjoy sipping morning coffee on the nearly 300 SF pillared, covered front porch brewed, homebrewed in the generously equipped kitchen or purchased from the specialty coffee shop River and Main, steps away. Come sundown, take a 4-minute stroll in the long Northern Michigan Summer evening to toast the sunset over Lake Michigan from famous sandy beaches or the public Marina.
On arrival, enter through the handsomely transomed-windowed front door to gorgeous walnut stained wood floors. A spectacular gourmet kitchen awaits to the left and a bright, window filled sitting room on your right. The kitchen will suit the gourmet cook with a hands-free faucet, dual oven, granite, and a patio right out the door with firepit table and smoker/grill. The main floor family room has a cozy fireplace, a reading nook and nice built-ins. Upstairs the bedrooms are generous and light-filled. Many features include: 10' ceilings, finished lower level with 8' ceilings, central air, surround sound, laundry. One bedroom is also equipped as an office/library with printer and Wifi, for any guests who need (condolences) to do a bit of work.
River House is a family vacation home, lovingly stocked with summer entertainment necessities: beach reading, games for all ages, and jigsaw puzzles. When they are unable to be in Leland, the owners are happy to share all these delights with their guests.
During the day, your family can busy themselves doing everything or nothing. Walk to the magnificent sand beaches of Leland on Lake Michigan and spread out your blankets and beach chairs to read, swim, or nap, while the kids play in the sand and surf. In town, shop, stroll, eat ice cream, or just people-watch. Restaurants restaurants within that 4-minute walk including the famous Blue Bird Restaurant. For a splurge, the Riverside Inn and its elegant bar is a scrumptious option, right across the street!
The world famous Sleeping Bear Dunes and National Lakeshore Park is a lovely half hour drive along arguably the most picturesque road in the State of Michigan, the South Manitou Trail, overlooking miles of lake views Million-Dollar++ homes and the Manitou Islands. After an energetic Sleeping Bear Dunes climb or hike, visit Glen Arbor, another of Michigan’s crown jewel villages along our very own “Gold Coast.” On a hot day, plan ahead and take a cool canoe or float trip down the gin-clear and aptly-named Crystal River.
Or, head north to the Grand Traverse Lighthouse and museum at the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula, and return through quaint Northport where you must visit Barb’s Bakery, only get there early enough that the cinnamon sticks are not sold out! Terrific restaurants in Suttons Bay and Lake Leelanau are within a pleasant 15-minute drive. While you’re in Suttons Bay, drive past our other fine properties at 124 S. Shore (M-22) and 93 S. Shore. Hansen’s Grocery, in the plaza off Fourth Street, is astounding in its selection of terrific local and other selections from around the World.
At your “home” for the week your group will want for nothing. Newly redecorated, fully appointed, the River House in Leland sleeps 14 in luxurious, private comfort. PLEASE NOTE that some furnishings are not as shown, we are in the process of redecorating, but you will not be disappointed.
